Data on psychometric and diagnostic properties of a scale: tecno-addiction to sex in Spanish children-youth

Abstract
Background/Objectives: According to new social circumstances, data on diagnostic capacity are presented of a new detection and screening short scale for the prevention of techno-addiction to sex in the infantile-juvenile population based on mental disorders of the DSM-5 (American Psychological Association, APA, 2013), and on components of internalization and externalization with respect to emotional states, where a disorder is justified from other disorders confirming comorbidity as well as following the classic characteristics of addiction. Method: A questionnaire created is administered to a sample of 1,212 males and females between thirteen years and thirty years in a multi-institutional, prospective, transversal study. Results: The results show significant gender differences suggesting that males and females do not internalize the same sex on the Internet, nor are the same adjacent disorders related to them. Conclusions: We confirmed that Internet sex addiction involves factors and disorders other than sexual. The scale may have clinical application in primary care, where it is difficult to obtain information on the sexuality of infantile-juveniles.
