Abstract

Persistent COVID-19 is a disease that is associated with disorders in different bodily systems that are proving disabling for the patient, affecting their functionality and quality of life. As a result, they have also been limited in their accessibility to many areas. The objective of this study is to compare the functional status and quality of life of people who have been infected with COVID-19 and those who have developed persistent COVID. An observational study was conducted with a sample of 170 patients who were administered a post-COVID-19 functional status scale and the SF-12 quality of life scale. Bivariate analysis was carried out using chi-square to determine existing relationships. A significant relationship was observed regarding greater functional limitation in people with persistent COVID, along with a complete worsening of their quality of life. Limitation in their functionality can be accentuated by an un-integrative and inaccessible environment, therefore it is important to adapt the environment and continue working on universal accessibility that promotes greater autonomy for all people with functional limitations, and specifically for those with this new condition of persistent COVID.
