Hope and future. A reflection for a better world

Abstract

“We said yesterday"-(using Fray Luis de León, when referring to the presentation of the Journal ”International Journal of Developmental and Educational Psychology. INFAD: Revista de Psicología” of issue XXXIII of the year 2021)-, that presenting a new issue of the Journal was for us a great ‘satisfaction’. To do so indicates life, activity, development, profession, vocation, dedication, progress and above all to leave a written record of science, and now, with the new technologies, to also leave testimony “in the cloud” of everything published. “What is not known does not exist” we say in colloquial language, and it is a real and true truth. Hence our effort, our illusion and our satisfaction in doing so. With this “satisfaction”, when I make the presentation for this our obligatory second number of the year 2024, I associate that we are already in the number 2 of the thirty-sixth year (XXXVI) since our origins, and I cannot forget the steps taken. 36 years are many years and many walks taken by the INFAD Journal that frame the baggage of its history, centered on satisfactions, achievements and curricular progress of many researchers with their contributions in the published issues, which have been many and, within those many, also very many articles included in them.

Years ago INFAD was born in Cordoba, in an “almost utopian” meeting of a group of professors from the old Teaching Schools, today almost all of them Faculties of Education and other denominations. Our fantasy was something like Armstrong's phrase “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”. INFAD was born then to stay, to organize itself, to create groups of friends who would be effective enough to give a boost to the science that the university was beginning to demand from professors. We were novices, but we were eager to grow, to mature, to learn, to become apprentices, and also, by learning from each other, to be able to teach and transmit to each other experiences, research, achievements and advances in science. We decided to continue to see each other at scientific meetings, at congresses and, in some way, to offer society what society demanded of us. The INFAD Association was born, and the “Revista Infad” was also born in its first editions, until 2005 when a new update was produced and continues to this day. In 2024, many years later, we are still alive! and with the same illusion. We have grown in significance and in databases that have recognized us as reference points for possible citations (SciELO; FECYT; DIALNET, LATINDEX, PSICODOC, REDALIYC, DOAJ, ERIHPLUS, ULRICH, ISOC, DICE, SHERPA-ROMEO, MIAR, AURORA, CORE, Etc.) We have welcomed many new authors and also outstanding professionals and highly qualified who have given us prestige with their articles. The Journal owes much of its significance and contributions to all of them. Thanks to all of them! And above all, we continue with enthusiasm to publish and present, year after year, the Infad Journal. I thank life for this gratifying obligation!
