Motherhood in motion: voices, resilience, and hope in human mobility
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research analyzes diverse experiences of motherhood in the context of human mobility from a perspective of empowerment, support, and reflection. Through active listening via focus groups, interviews, and playful techniques, the voices of women who, during their displacement, reinvented their role as mothers were made visible. This research has a qualitative approach, conducted through a case study in which the narratives of participating mothers living in a shelter in Tijuana, Baja California, were analyzed. This allowed us to understand how motherhood becomes a space of resistance and strength. The findings allowed us to give a different meaning to motherhood, not only as an intimate practice, but as an act that sustains processes of belonging, empowerment, and aspiration.
