Evaluation of levels of stress of the technical directors in social organization

Abstract

Currently, the professional demands represent a challenge for individuals. These demands can lead to negative effects, namely work-family conflict and work-family conflict and consequently stress. Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the level of stress of Technical Directors in social organisations in the central region of Mainland Portugal. Participants: Thesampleconsists of 13 Technical Directors, being 100% of theself identifid as female gender, 84.6% are university graduates and the age of participants ranged between 20 and 60 years, being that the highest percentage was between 40-50 years (46.2%). Method: The Perceived Stress Scale was administered. Stress - Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) was administered. Results: The results report for a high level of stress perceived stress bythe Technical Directors ofsocial organisations, presenting 70% with a high level of perceived stress and 30% with a low level of stress. Conclusion: The results show a high level of stress perceived by the Technical Directors of social organisations. It is not possible to provide a comprehensive solution for the prevention ofstress, but guidelines can be established. In all situations, the process ofstress prevention programmes involves three distinct steps: problem identificative intervention and evaluation.
