Childhood trauma and emotional intelligence in a transdisciplinary perspective
Main Article Content
Abstract
Childhood trauma is a serious public health problem and its repercussions on health in the long term have more and more scientific evidence. Childhood trauma can disrupt the biological pathways related to stress, disabling the individual to process these experiences and, as a result, producing a lasting impact on later stages of life. Exposure to adverse childhood experiences has been associated with a worse quality of life and a greater risk of harmful behaviors and illnesses. The emotional consequences of childhood trauma are inevitable, and the development of multidisciplinary educational strategies for its effective coping and management becomes decisive and urgent. This article analyzes the most current perspectives on childhood trauma, its impact on later stages of life and the resulting psychosocial process. Finally, it will discuss how emotional intelligence (EI) since transdisciplinary education fosters resilience through coping resources in stressful situations derived from traumatic experiences in childhood.
