Cyberviolence in adolescent and young couples: a review
Main Article Content
Abstract
The aim of this paper was to carry out a theoretical review of the studies that analyse cyber-violence in adolescent and young couples, and to present the main findings extracted from them. The analysis included 79 studies published between 2009 and 2023, which were searched in different databases. In relation to the inclusion criteria, articles with a sample composed of adolescents and young people who had or had had a partner in the past were taken into account. In conclusion, it should be noted that cyber-violence is a form of violence that is occurring with increasing frequency in adolescent and young couples. Furthermore, as has been observed in the different articles analysed, the prevalence of cyber-violence is high and cyber-control seems to be the most common form of abuse among adolescents and young people. On the other hand, there is no clear data in relation to gender or age, and an increasing number of studies find that cyber-violence occurs in a bidirectional manner.
