Abstract

Escape rooms, along with other playful learning strategies, are a growing trend in education. Escape rooms are immersive narrative games where participants must solve tasks and puzzles to escape from a room. This strategy allows the creation of motivating, cooperative and didactic activities for students of different educational stages. To favor its application in the educational system, it is necessary to facilitate the learning of its didactic use in teacher training. From this perspective, the objective of this study has been to use escape rooms as methodological resources to work about Research in Education of a master’s degree in Education. Five final year students have participated in the training action. A nine-hour training course on the conceptualization, tools and design of an educational escape room has been implemented. For the evaluation of this case study, the Questionnaire on Motivation for Cooperative Playful Learning Strategies was used and a survey of open questions about the experience was carried out. The results show that the students show the acquisition of knowledge for the application of this strategy in the classroom, as well as very positive levels of satisfaction with the methodology used in the workshop.
