MOOC in higher education: evolution and impact on teacher training
Main Article Content
Abstract
MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) have become an emerging educational phenomenon and are in full evolution. More than a decade after its launch, show MOOCs flexibility with the emergence of new taxonomic proposals and their path to customization, adapting to educational institution’s needs. Starting from scientific literature review and its critical analysis, this work shows a MOOCs reality perspective in higher education, specifically in teacher training. The analysis carried out was based on experiences review and the emergence of various proposals for the design and implementation of some MOOC types, as part of permanent training strategies of higher education teachers. The results obtained show the MOOCs evolution and their impact on teacher training. Interesting relationships were identified between some categories of analysis, such as motivation, expectations, time and disciplinary knowledge, which are highlighted by various authors as influential in the success of this course types; being possible to observe a more diversified MOOCs conception with more pedagogical criteria.
